Govt invites applications for RBI deputy governor post
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in India has announced an open call for candidates interested in the role of deputy governor. Applications should be submitted by November 30. As per a recent press release, the position carries a three-year term and the chosen individual may be considered for reappointment.
Candidates with a minimum of 25 years of professional background in public administration, encompassing service at the rank of secretary or its equivalent within the central government, as well as individuals with 25 years of experience in Indian or international public financial institutions, are deemed suitable for the position.
Exceptional individuals with a remarkable background and accomplishments at either the national or international scale in the respective field(s) are also considered eligible, according to the statement released. As of January 15, 2025, candidates vying for the position of deputy governor at the RBI must not exceed 60 years of age.
According to the statement, the position comes with a salary of Rs 225,000.
Michael Debabrata Patra is set to conclude his second tenure as the RBI deputy governor in January 2025, following his initial three-year term that spanned from January 2020 to January 2023.
