Varun Tej says Chiranjeevi never let him or cousins turn into spoiled brats: He used to cane Allu Arjun, Ram Charan
Varun Tej humorously referred to his uncle Chiranjeevi as the family’s ‘principal’ and shared his thoughts on how Chiranjeevi plays a central role in keeping the family united.
Varun Tej expressed his gratitude towards his uncle Chiranjeevi for instilling humility in him and his cousins, even though they were raised in a family associated with the film industry. During an appearance on Siddharth Kannan’s program, the actor humorously mentioned that his uncle made sure to discipline him, Allu Arjun, and Ram Charan when they were younger.
‘His influence on us was profound.’
Varun was questioned about maintaining humility despite being raised in a family entrenched in the film industry. In response, he credited Chiranjeevi garu for preventing them from becoming arrogant individuals. He emphasized the significant influence Chiranjeevi garu had on their upbringing, attributing any humility they possess to his continuous guidance and efforts in keeping them down-to-earth.
The artist playfully referred to Chiranjeevi as the family’s ‘principal,’ teasingly remarking, “He must have disciplined all three of us (himself, Ram, Arjun) at various times and locations. Most likely, he did so more with them than with me since I am the youngest. Regardless of what anyone says, we will always heed his words. During our upbringing, it was imperative for everyone to gather at his residence every Sunday. This tradition played a vital role in maintaining our family’s unity.
The relationship between Varun Tej and Chiranjeevi
Every year during Sankranthi, Varun, Niharika Konidela, Sai Durgha Tej, Vaisshnav Tej, and their cousins reunite to spend quality time together, continuing the family tradition of acting set by their uncles Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan, as well as their father, Naga Babu. Varun is the son of Naga Babu and brother of Chiranjeevi, while Niharika Konidela is also part of this talented family.
Chiranjeevi has always been Varun’s trusted confidant. The actor playfully expressed his disappointment at his nephew for keeping his relationship with Lavanya Tripathi a secret. During the pre-release event of Operation Valentine earlier this year, Chiranjeevi humorously remarked, “Varun shares everything with me, except this. He didn’t even drop a hint. Despite claiming to be inspired by me, he failed to share that he’s dating Lavanya. He confides in me more than he does in his own father. Hence, my grudge against him lingers on.
New project on the horizon
Following the success of Gaddalakonda Ganesh in 2019, Varun faced a series of underwhelming performances at the box office with Ghani, F3: Fun and Frustration, Gandeevadhari Arjuna, and Operation Valentine. However, he is set to make a comeback with his upcoming movie Matka directed by Karuna Kumar, where he will be sharing the screen with Meenakshi Chaudhary and Nora Fatehi. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 14. Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi is gearing up for his next project, Vishwambhara, in which he will be paired opposite Trisha Krishnan.
