It is noteworthy that their captain Williamson was absent from the match as he stayed back in New Zealand to focus on recuperating from an injury obtained during the previous series against Sri Lanka.

Coach Gary Stead mentioned in a press statement that Kane is under observation and progressing positively, although he has not fully recovered to 100% fitness yet.
