In the case of Indian students, five factors are taken into consideration: scoring in JEE Main, age restrictions, permissible number of attempts, performance in the Class 12 examination, and previous enrollment in IITs.

The eligibility criteria for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2025 have been revealed by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur. Aspiring candidates looking forward to the upcoming IIT entrance exam can verify the requirements on jeeadv.ac.in. Indian citizens need to meet five key eligibility conditions for JEE Advanced, including their performance in JEE Main 2025, age restrictions, allowable number of attempts, participation in the Class 12 exams, and any prior enrollment in IITs.

In the JEE (Main) 2025 performance criteria, candidates must rank among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates in the BE/BTech paper (paper 1) of the exam. This selection encompasses various categories: 10% general-EWS, 27% OBC-NCL, 15% SC, 7.5% ST, and 40.5% open category candidates. Additionally, within each category, there will be a five percent horizontal reservation dedicated to PwD candidates.

Categorized below is the distribution of candidates based on their respective categories, which also considers horizontal reservation for PwD candidates.

Access Granted: 1,01,250

EWS General: 25,000

OBC-NCL: 67,500

SC: 37,500

ST: 18,750

IIT Kanpur stated that in case of tied ranks/scores within any category, the overall number of candidates could exceed 250,000 slightly.

Candidates must have a birth date on or after October 1, 2000, to meet the age requirement. However, those belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories are eligible for a five-year age relaxation. This relaxation allows candidates from these categories born on or after October 1, 1995, to participate in the test.

The maximum number of attempts allowed for JEE Advanced, according to the official website, is three over a span of three consecutive years.

In order to be eligible, candidates must have taken the Class 12 (or equivalent) exam in either 2023, 2024, or 2025, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects.

Candidates who took the Class 12 exam in 2022 or prior for the first time will be ineligible to participate in JEE Advanced 2025.

In order to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2025, candidates must not have previously secured admission to any IIT through a program mentioned in the JoSAA business rules of 2024 or prior. Additionally, individuals whose IIT admission was revoked after enrollment are also disqualified. However, those who enrolled in an IIT preparatory course for the first time in 2024 are permitted to participate in JEE Advanced 2025.

Individuals qualified for JEE Advanced 2025 are those who secured a spot in an IIT via JoSAA but either failed to confirm online, withdrew prior to the final round of seat allocation, or had their seat revoked before the last round.
