In a span of a week, Kashmir has witnessed three attacks on migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh, with the latest incident targeting a laborer. The previous tragic assaults occurred in Ganderbal and Shopian.

On Thursday, in the Tral region of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, terrorists shot and wounded a worker from Uttar Pradesh.

Police have stated that Shubam Kumar, a resident of Bijnore, was identified as the victim of a gunshot injury to his arm during an attack by terrorists in Batagund village. Kumar received immediate medical attention and is reportedly in a stable condition.

Within a single week, Kashmir has witnessed three assaults targeting non-local workers. The most recent incident occurred in Ganderbal district, where a local doctor and six non-local laborers lost their lives in an act of terror.

On CCTV footage, two individuals, identified as terrorists, were seen at a workers’ camp in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district for a duration of seven minutes. The assailants were armed with an M4 carbine of American origin and an AK-47. This incident took place on October 20, resulting in the tragic loss of seven lives.

APCO Infratech employed the deceased individuals who were working on the construction of the Z-Morh tunnel along the Srinagar-Sonamarg highway.

At approximately 7:25 pm on October 20, while certain staff members were seated in the dining section and others were on their way to dinner, the assault occurred at the camp.

Nestled beneath the access road leading to the tunnel, the campsite is surrounded by desolate mountains on one side and the busy Srinagar-Leh national highway on the other.

The recent assault in Jammu and Kashmir stands out as the most fatal targeting civilians since the tragic incident on June 9 in Reasi. During that event, nine pilgrims lost their lives as the bus they were traveling in was ambushed by terrorists, causing it to veer off the road and fall into a valley.

Ashok Kumar Chavan, a laborer hailing from Bihar, tragically lost his life on October 18 when he was fatally shot by terrorists in Shopian district. The lifeless body of Chavan, pierced by bullets, was found in the Wachi region of Zainpora.

Chavan’s body bore four bullet wounds, marking the initial instance of a deliberate assassination in the Valley following the civilian government’s assumption of power in Jammu and Kashmir on October 16 under Omar Abdullah’s leadership, as per police reports.
