At 11:20 am IST, the BSE Sensex benchmark dropped to 79,446.79, marking a decrease of 931.34 points or 1.16% from the prior day’s closing figure. Concurrently, the Nifty also experienced a decline to 24,194.45, down by 289.60 points or 1.18% compared to the previous close.
The Sensex plummeted to 79,974.57, marking a decrease of 403.56 points or 0.50% from the prior day’s closing, while the Nifty dropped to 24,344.10, reflecting a decline of 139.95 points or 0.57% from the previous close, all by 9:30 am IST.
At the start of trading, the Sensex began at 80,563.42, marking a gain of 185.29 points or 0.23% compared to the prior day’s close. In contrast, the Nifty kicked off the session almost unchanged at 24,489.60, showing a marginal increase of 5.55 points over the previous closing value.
What was the extent of the markets’ previous surge?
Following the conclusion of the trading session on November 6, 2024, the Sensex concluded at 80,378.13, marking a surge of 901.50 points or 1.13%. Simultaneously, the Nifty wrapped up at 24,484.05, showing an increase of 270.75 points or 1.12%.
Among the companies listed on the Sensex, TCS, Infosys, and Tech Mahindra experienced the highest increases, with gains of 4.21%, 4.02%, and 3.85% respectively.
Among the 30 companies in the Sensex, only Titan (-1.72%), IndusInd Bank (-1.14%), Hindustan Unilever (-0.79%), Axis Bank (-0.35%), and HDFC Bank (-0.22%) experienced declines in their stock prices.
The Nifty sectoral indices ended the session positively, showing gains across the board. Among them, the Nifty IT, Realty, and Oil & Gas sectoral indices stood out with impressive increases of 3.99%, 2.58%, and 2.54% correspondingly.
The Sensex concluded at ₹79,476.63 the previous day, marking a gain of 694.39 points or 0.88%. Simultaneously, the Nifty surged to 24,213.30, reflecting an increase of 217.95 points or 0.91%.
